This guide has been prepared as an aid so that you will be able to express you opinions briefly and clearly before the Commission and thus increase the effectiveness of your presentation. Remarks are limited to 3 minutes unless extended by the Commission.

3. Your Statement should include all pertinent facts within your knowledge. It is important to discuss only those matters relating to the hearing and to tie your discussion of the facts directly to the decision you wish the Commission to reach.

Written Testimony

In order to have written material included in the Health and Safety Commissioner's mailed Agenda Packet, 10 copies of the material must be delivered to the Emergency Management office no later than 11 calendar days before the date of the Health and Safety Commission Hearing.
Written material (10 copies) that is presented to the Health and Safety Commission after this date and up to 1:00 p.m. the day of the Health and Safety Commission Hearing, will be included in the Commissioners’ Agenda folder, but may not be reviewed by individual Commissioners due to the amount of material that the Commissioners have to review for the Agenda.



Members of the public may address the Commission regarding any items not on the Agenda that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission. By State law, the Commission may not discuss or vote on items not on the Agenda.

1. Health and Safety Recognition Program - USC Hillel

The Health and Safety Recognition Program continues to honor those individuals, businesses, or groups who have demonstrated leadership in the field of health and safety issues or made a contribution to the mission of the Health and Safety Commission.

Staff will transmit an update of the City Council September 19, 2017, Study Session and a summary of planned outreach efforts.

3. Disaster Ready Partner - None

In order to promote disaster preparedness efforts in the business community, each month, the Health and Safety Commission will give a shout-out to those businesses that have submitted their application to become Disaster Ready partners.

Provides information from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on the outbreak of Hepatitis A (HAV) in Los Angeles County.

The Beverly Hills Information Technology Department will present on cybersecurity relating to safeguarding information and the use of technology during times of disaster.

NEW BUSINESS

6. 2017 Conflict of Interest Code

The Political Reform Act, Government Code Sections 81000, et seq., requires state and local government agencies to adopt and promulgate Conflict of Interest Codes.

Shana Epstein, Director of Public Works, will speak on proposed water rate increases.
