This guide has been prepared as an aid so that you will be able to express you opinions briefly and clearly before the Commission and thus increase the effectiveness of your presentation. Remarks are limited to 3 minutes unless extended by the Commission.

1. State your Name and Address.

2. Organization you represent if any.

3. Your Statement should include all pertinent facts within your knowledge. It is important to discuss only those matters relating to the hearing and to tie your discussion of the facts directly to the decision you wish the Commission to reach.

Written Testimony

In order to have written material included in the Health and Safety Commissioner's mailed Agenda Packet, 10 copies of the material must be delivered to the Emergency Management office no later than 11 calendar days before the date of the Health and Safety Commission Hearing.
Written material (10 copies) that is presented to the Health and Safety Commission after this date and up to 1:00 p.m. the day of the Health and Safety Commission Hearing, will be included in the Commissioners’ Agenda folder, but may not be reviewed by individual Commissioners due to the amount of material that the Commissioners have to review for the Agenda.



Members of the public may address the Commission regarding any items not on the Agenda that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission. By State law, the Commission may not discuss or vote on items not on the Agenda.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

With the concurrence of the Commission, the Chair may choose to amend the order of the items on the agenda.

1. Health and Safety Recognition Program - Beverly Hills Public Library Homebound Program

The Health and Safety Recognition Program continues to honor those individuals, businesses, or groups who have demonstrated leadership in the field of health and safety issues or contributed to the mission of the Health and Safety Commission.

2. Cannabis and Toxicology Presentation

Dr. Patil Armenian, MD, Research Director, Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine & Toxicology at UCSF-Fresno, will provide a presentation to the Commission on drug use, marijuana edibles, opioids, and other items related to toxicology. Attachments: Wall Street Journal Article.

3. Smoking Update

Staff will update the Commission on a variety of smoking related issues. 4. Disaster Preparedness

Each month, the Health and Safety Commission will hear topics related to Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness. Staff will provide a brief presentation.

5. Great Shakeout

Meena Janmohamed, Emergency Management Analyst, will provide a presentation on the Great ShakeOut, an earthquake drill. Attachments: ShakeOut for Individuals and Families, ShakeOut for Businesses, ShakeOut for Faith Based Organizations.

6. La Cienega Park and Recreation Complex Public Outreach

Director of Community Services, Nancy Hunt-Coffey, will provide information and seek input on the potential project.
