Bicycle Ad Hoc Committee
The Traffic & Parking Commission (TPC) Bicycle Ad-Hoc Committee is represented by Chair Alan Grushcow and Commissioner Jeff Levine. PILOT BICYCLE ROUTES ON BURTON WAY AND NORTH CRESCENT DRIVE On August 23, 2012, the City Council directed staff to proceed with design specifications for a Pilot Bicycle Lane/Route on Burton Way and North Crescent Drive. The Public Works & Transportation department will forward the design specifications for (1) a Class II Bike Lane on east and westbound Burton Way between North Crescent Drive and the east City limits; and (2) a combined Class III Bike Route with sharrow markings on North Crescent Drive between Wilshire Boulevard and Park Way, and a Class II Bike Lane between Park Way and Sunset Boulevard. BICYCLE RACK PROGRAM In the continued effort to meet the FY12/13 and FY13/14 City Council Priorities for a Citywide Bike Plan, in November 2012 the Beverly Hills City Council approved the development and implementation of pilot bikeways on Burton Way and North Crescent Drive, and a bicycle rack program. On Tuesday, February 19, 2013 the City Council directed staff to proceed with the production of custom designed bike racks to improve bicycle parking in the City. Approximately 30 racks will be manufactured for Phase 1 which will include installations at (1) City-owned buildings and public parks; (2) additional racks in the business triangle and new installations in commercial corridors including the west end of South Santa Monica Boulevard, South Beverly Drive and North and South Robertson Boulevard; and (3) a "Rack-on-Request" program that will provide businesses an opportunity to submit an application for installation of a bike rack on the public right-of-way based on available space. The custom designed post-and-loop bike rack will have center face plate shaped like the Beverly Hills shield and include the “BH” logo in the upper left-hand corner of the shield, and a bicycle symbol in the center (click here to view the City Council approved design). Agenda/Staff reports will be posted by the City Clerk’s Office on the City’s webpage: Beverly Hills Website - Meeting and Program Archives.
