Local Teens Receive Proclamation from City Council on October 15, 2013

As part of our Embrace Civility program, the Human Relations Commission invites every member of this community to support an environment where civility, respect and responsible actions prevail.  As a means to promote civility, the Human Relations Commission held a Bullying Prevention video competition.  The prompt for the competition was: Everyone plays a role in bullying…The bully, the bullied and the bystander or… The person who makes a difference! What’s your take?

Participants came from many of the local schools and as far away as the High Desert Middle School in Acton California.

Bully Rap” by Solomon and Jax Margo was selected for the 4-8th grade category as the runner-up.

The Silent Word” by Sara Sacks, Sarah Yadegari and Talia Mahbouhi was selected as the winner for the 4 – 8th grade category.

“Words Can Hurt“ by the Righteous Conversation Project Team from Harvard Westlake School was the runner-up for the 9-12th grade category.

Friends Matter” by Sarah Jensen and Sophia Lopez was selected as the winner for the 9-12th category.

Please take a moment and view these videos from above links.  After viewing these videos, we hope you will stop and think about your role in the dynamic of bullying.
