Fire Administration

The Beverly Hills Fire Department Administration Division provides professional management and administrative support to all sections of the Department to ensure that superior services are delivered to the Beverly Hills community.  Fire Administration is responsible for the overall planning, control, leadership, and management of all Fire Department activities and staff support for all programs; this includes strategic planning, departmental communications, data and records management systems, departmental safety committee, disaster services planning, budget preparation and administration, training, media relations, special projects, and general administration.

The Fire Administration Division is located at Headquarters/Station #1 and consists of the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Training Officer, Management Analyst, Executive Assistant, Secretary, Administrative Clerk, and Fire Cadets.  Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am - 5:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, excluding holidays.

Fire Department Management Audit

On January 12, 2010, Citygate Associates was hired to conduct a comprehensive organizational and management audit of the Fire Department.

CityGate presented their findings at the City Council Study Session on November 4, 2010.  You may view the presentation as well as its accompanying documents below.

According to the findings, the Beverly Hills Fire Department is "at all levels very cooperative, professional and technically competent." The audit also found that "given the struggle to keep up while coping with an ever-tightening economy, there is pride and ongoing effort to deliver the best customer service with the currently available resources. Fires are being attended to and medical calls are being answered with excellent patient care."

This audit is part of the City’s continuing effort to evaluate all of its departments’ services and service delivery in terms of customer service, best practices, efficiency and fiscal responsibility. The report from Citygate provides recommendations for implementation to improve core services, increase safety for the public and fire department personnel, and increase efficiency.
