Police Chief

David Snowden, Chief of Police is an honorary brigadier general in the California State Military Reserve who was appointed to the top job in Beverly Hills in 2004, following stints as Chief of Police for the cities of Costa Mesa and Baldwin Park.

The recipient of numerous honors, including the 2007 Shomrim Award and the 2003 Sherman Block Law Enforcement Professional of the Year, Chief Snowden was voted among the top 103 most influential people on the Orange Coast for 12 consecutive years. He has served on the board of directors for the California League of Cities and in several law enforcement organizations, including the League’s Police Chief Department, the California Police Chiefs Association and Airborne Law Enforcement (ABLE).

As Beverly Hills’ chief, he is responsible for preventing crime, protecting life and property, suppressing criminal activity, apprehending and prosecuting offenders and preserving the public peace. He leads a department of four divisions.
