The Police Department building is located across the street from the Beverly Hills City Hall at 464 N. Rexford Dr. A flag pole donated to the Police Department by Louis and Ro Bershad was dedicated on May 31st, 2011. It currently sits at this entrance.
The Communications Center receives all incoming calls for police and fire services, including 911 and dispatches police and fire units to calls for service. Highly trained communications personnel track the status of all public safety field personnel 24 hours a day.
The Desk Officer is prominently stationed in the main lobby and is responsible for answering questions and assisting citizens at the counter, completing various police reports, directing citizens to others sections of the Department and monitoring/responding to "Safety Zone" calls at the emergency entrance to the Department.
The Crime Prevention Bureau provides a variety of educational programs designed to assist crime victims, prevent criminal activity in the community and aid in disaster preparation. The Crime Prevention sergeant conducts an annual Neighborhood Watch Program in which residents are invited to the Police Department concerning programs of interest.
The Special Projects Unit is responsible for providing advanced technical services to the Police Department. Its members work with other departments and employees in the City of Beverly Hills to provide staff within the Police Department with the latest and most cutting-edge technology at all times. The Special Projects Unit manages the Police Department's Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, Closed-Circuit Television System (CCTV), radios, cell phones and vehicles, among other items. It also coordinates several advanced pilot projects with the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce and MIT's Lincoln Laboratory and manages the application of federal grant money directed at technology initiatives within the Police Department.
