FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA)
HOW FSA WORKS
The City’s FSA is administered through Conexis. It allows employees to pay for qualified expenses using pre-tax dollars. There is a Medical FSA and a Dependent Care FSA. Full-time employees can annually deduct up to $2,500 for Medical FSA plus up to $5,000 for Dependent Care FSA to a maximum $7,500. FSA provides employees with an option to lower their taxable income.
- Bi-monthly payroll deductions
- Receipts need to be submitted directly to the FSA administrator – Conexis
- Conexis will reimburse employees directly
- Un-used will be forfeited
MEDICAL FSA
The City allows deductions of up to $2,500 per year. Qualified expenses include out of pockets cost of:
- Doctor’s visits
- Chiropractor visits
- Eye/hearing exams
- Lab fees
- Dental cleanings
- Filling/crowns
- Root canals
- Braces
- Prescription eyeglasses
- Contact lenses/solutions
- Hearing aids and batteries
- Durable medical equipment
- Prescriptions
- Certain over the counter medication
- Illness related transportation
DEPENDENT CARE FSA
The City allows deductions of up to $5,000 per year for qualified expenses including:
- Day Care services
- Babysitters
- Pre-schools
- General Purpose Day Camps
Some ineligible expenses include: kindergarten tuition, private school tuition, overnight care or camps, institutional camps and summer school education or enrollment programs.
