New Regulations in Beverly Hills

Make Room for Bikes - It's the Law

The Three Feet for Safety Act has been effective since September 16, 2014. The law requires motorists to maintain a 3-foot buffer between themselves and bicyclists when they pass cyclists traveling in the same direction.

Smoking Regulation 

The City's e-cigarette ordinance has been effective since June 1, 2014. Several other cities have recently taken measures to regulate the use and sales of e-cigarette within their communities.

Plastic Bag Ordinance

The City of Beverly Hills implemented the first phase of the plastic bag ban ordinance on July 1, 2014. Since the adoption of the ordinance, stores are required to carry reusable bags.

Legislative Advocate Registration 

Paid legislative advocates, commonly called lobbyists, who communicate with City of Beverly Hills staff or council members must each fill out a revised form stating their intent. The form is available online.
