FAQ - What does the Human Relations Commission (HRC) do? What kinds of issues are included in human relations that the Office/HRC deal with?
Answer: The Human Relations Commission (HRC) was established by the City Council in 2001 to "promote positive human relations in all aspects of community life in Beverly Hills" and to "actively promote a just and equitable muticultural society". The field of "human relations" encompasses issues and matters concerning diversity, tolerance, inter-group tensions and conflicts, hate crimes/violence, homelessness, discrimination, prejudice and stereotyping based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other factors.
