FAQ - What authority does the City have over cable TV rates and franchising?

Answer: Congress deregulated all service rates for cable TV and broadband (internet) services. The City has no control over what cable operators charge for services. The State of California enacted a law to issue video service provider franchises statewide effective January 1, 2008. Under this framework, subscribers will continue to contact the City for assistance to mediate any unresolved customer service, technical, or billing issues.
