Library Cards
Applying for a Library Card

Library cards are free to the residents of the City of Beverly Hills.  Residents of Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura Counties may also receive a free library card. You will need to provide both photo identification and a proof of current address.

1. Photo Identification: We will accept any one of the following as photo identification: a valid driver's license, a valid California ID, a Passport, a government issued photo ID as photo identification. In addition you need to provide a proof of address.

2. Current Address: We will accept any one of the following as proof of current address: a current utility bill, a credit card statement, a rental or property tax receipt, current school documents that show your home address, a car registration.

To receive a Library Card, fill out an Library Card Registration Form (Mac users: use Adobe Reader to view) and present the application with identification in person at the Beverly Hills Public Library.

All library cards will need to be renewed every other year in person on the date of your birthday.  Please be prepared to provide photo identification and proof of current address again at the time of renewal.

Computer-Use-Only Cards

Computer-use-only cards are issued as a courtesy to those who do not want full library privileges.  Computer-use-only cards are not eligible for borrowing library materials.

Computer–use-only cards are issued to adults and minors in grade 6 and up.  Cards are issued according to the library’s registration requirements and are valid for six months from the date of issue.

Library borrowers are allowed only one valid card per borrower.

Verification of identity is required to receive a computer-use-only card.

Verification of identity may be provided by a document such as a driver’s license; state ID card; school or university ID card; voter’s registration card; Medicare, Medicaid, or clinic eligibility card; employer’s ID card; consulate card; major credit card; or other officially issued printed ID card.

Notifications

The library offers email overdue and reminder notices as a courtesy to library patrons.  We cannot guarantee that patrons will receive these email messages.  Interruptions in service for technical reasons, spam filters at the Internet Service Provider, filled mailboxes, and the frequency that patrons check their email all contribute to missed messages.  While the Library endeavors to notify cardholders of all overdue items, the library holds patrons responsible for tracking the due date on checked-out materials and for paying fines if the material is not returned or renewed on time, whether or not an email reminder or overdue notice was sent or received.

cloudLibrary

Borrowing and returning items has never been easier!

We are excited to introduce cloudLibrary - the new feature-packed app that makes it easier than ever to borrow, organize, and return your library items. cloudLibrary is available as a free download on a variety of platforms.

Homebound Delivery Service

The Beverly Hills Public Library is pleased to offer delivery service of library materials to Beverly Hills residents who are unable to come to the library in person due to temporary or permanent disability or illness. A current library card is not required and an account will be issued upon your admittance into the program. For more information, please call (310) 288-2244 or (310) 288-2264.

Patron Responsibility

Patrons are responsible for notifying the library about changes to their address, phone number, or email address.

Library Materials Theft while checked out

Upon notification that a patron's borrowed library materials have been stolen, the circulation supervisor will request from the patron a copy of the police report.  Once a copy has been received the circulation supervisor will waive the fines/fees and replacement costs.
