The Beverly Hills Fire Department has proudly provided Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to our community since 1924, when our department first began providing first-aid and ambulance services.
The level of medical service our department offers to our community was greatly enhanced in 1971 when the Beverly HIlls Fire Department became one of the first departments in Southern California to begin providing paramedic services to its citizens. At that time, our department provided paramedic services with one paramedic rescue ambulance.
Our department's paramedic service was further enhanced in 1996 when Engine 2 (located at 1100 Coldwater Canyon) and Engine 3 (located at 180 S. Doheny) were upgraded to paramedic assessment engine status.
Currently, 42 Beverly Hills firefighters are accredited as Paramedics with the County of Los Angeles and are licensed with the State of California. All other firefighters are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians 1.
