The City is committed to improving service so that it offers optimal benefits for its residents. Nighttime street sweeping has multiple barriers, such as numerous vehicles parked on the street due to disabled placards or approved nighttime parking permits. Unfortunately, if a single vehicle blocks the street sweeper path, they will need to maneuver around the vehicle, therefore missing debris that accumulates by the curb drains. The overnight parking exemption cannot accommodate all of the vehicles parked during the daytime sweeping zones; therefore, vehicles are parking at the designated nighttime sweeping zones. A daytime street sweeping schedule will ensure streets are clear of any parked vehicles for more effective street sweeping.

The 7 a.m. start time is necessary to ensure that the entire route gets cleaned within the specified timeframe. The 7 a.m. parking restrictions are in the single-family residential area where there is no overnight parking. For those residents that live in multi-family residences with overnight parking permits, restrictions begin at 8 a.m. We encourage residents to move vehicles the previous night if possible.

The Street Sweeping program was established in the late 1920's and has modified over the years in response to Federal and State Clean Water regulations. The program provides pollution control and reduces the flow of urban runoff entering our storm drains, waterways, and ocean. All residential streets within the City of Beverly Hills are swept once a week, while commercial streets are swept six days a week and alleys on a bi-monthly basis. On an annual basis, the City's street sweepers collect nearly 1,000 tons of debris and organics from the streets and gutters.
