Cooks for Kids: Seasonal
April 2 at 3:30 pm
Cooks for Kids is a series of programs from the National Food Service Management Institute that celebrates the fact that healthful food for children can, and should, be served everywhere. We believe that children should have access to healthful food and be able to make healthy food choices wherever they are - at home, in school, and out in the community. Reversing the childhood obesity epidemic is a shared responsibility. This episode focuses on spring and Chef Marvin Woods will demonstrate Lemon Zest Broccoli, and Strawberry Squares. Join the chef in the classroom as he shows children where wheat comes from and how to make whole-grain veggie pizzas. We then travel to Minnesota to see how the Wayzata School District is going local and how the University of Minnesota is helping other schools in the state incorporate local products. Recycling is second nature to their students and we will see how the system works at Central Middle School.
