Beginning Monday, June 18, southbound Gale Drive will be closed north of Wilshire on weekdays from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.* The closure will allow for excavation activities and utility work.
On weekdays Wilshire may be reduced to one lane from La Cienega to Willaman Drive. This will happen during off-peak hours to perform soil reinforcement activities.
Soil sampling work continues and crews prepare for next phase of utility relocation work.
Work to sample soil and examine the geology of the area will continue on Wilshire Boulevard Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.* Work in the area is expected to last through the end of July.* During work hours one lane on eastbound Wilshire Boulevard will be closed from Roxbury Drive to North Camden Drive.
Preparation for the next stage of utility relocation work on Wilshire Boulevard is on hold pending City approval and could start as early as June 18.* This work will take place on weekdays and includes:
- Traffic signal installation
- Marking the new striping layout (work hours: 8:00 pm to 6:00 am)
- Removing existing striping (work hours: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
- Marking and re-striping Wilshire between Beverly and Crescent (work hours: 8:00 am to 6:00 am)
Once re-striping is completed, k-rails, fence panels and 8-foot tall sidewalk panels will be installed Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.* These barriers are needed to perform ongoing utility work.
Wilshire Boulevard between Beverly Drive and N. Crescent Drive will be reduced to two lanes in each direction. Left turns from Wilshire may be restricted. Northbound traffic on Reeves will be detoured at Charleville. Detour signage will be posted, and flaggers will be on site in some locations during work hours to assist with detours and pedestrian crossing.
Demolition of 9430 Wilshire Boulevard (the former Ace Gallery) and installation of the noise barrier around the property will begin on Monday, June 25 and continue through August 2018.* A portion of the park at 125 S. Reeves Drive will be closed during demolition activities. This location will be used as a construction staging area.
*Due to the dynamic nature of construction the schedule and activities may vary.
