Weekly Update 11/30/18

Wilshire/Rodeo Station

Holiday moratorium in effect.

Construction work is now paused outside of staging areas and in public rights-of-way west of Rexford Drive, east of Santa Monica Boulevard, and north of Charleville Boulevard. This work will resume January 2.

Demolition in progress at former Ace Gallery building.

Demolition and abatement activities are confined within the property limits, due to the holiday moratorium. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.* Hauling and heavy demolition activity can only take place between 9 am and 4 pm.* The demolition is 85% complete.

Fault line investigations paused on Wilshire.

Drilling and sampling work to assess the soil and geological makeup of the tunnel route is on hold until January 2, 2019.

Wilshire/La Cienega Station

Closures continue on Wilshire Boulevard. 

The following closures* are scheduled to take place during the upcoming week:

  • North Gale will be closed from 7 am to 4 pm on weekdays, and 8 am to 7 pm on Saturdays.
  • Wilshire will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Stanley and Hamilton from 8 pm to 7 am on weekdays.
  • La Cienega will be reduced to one lane in each direction 300 feet from Wilshire from 8 pm to 7 am on weekdays.
  • All left turns will be restricted intermittently from Wilshire onto La Cienega and from La Cienega onto Wilshire from 8 pm to 7 am on weekdays.

Please use alternative routes and continue to respect construction barriers and detours for your safety.

*Due to the dynamic nature of construction, all proposed dates and times are subject to change.


The Purple Line Extension will provide a transportation alternative to the congested Westside, including two stops in Beverly Hills: Wilshire/ La Cienega and Wilshire/ Rodeo.

PROJECT DETAILS - Purple Line

The project is scheduled to be built in three sections.  The first section of the Purple Line Extension will extend the subway from the Wilshire/ Western station in Los Angeles to Wilshire/La Cienega in Beverly Hills.  Section 2 extends from the Wilshire/ La Cienega station to the Wilshire/ Rodeo station and then on to the Century City / Constellation station.
