City of Beverly Hills with a donation by the Rodeo Drive Committee
Torso was commissioned by the Rodeo Drive Committee to function as the centerpiece for the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style. Carved from solid aluminum blocks and mounted on a bronze pedestal, it typifies the almost anatomically exact renditions of the (primarily but not exclusively) female figure, which Robert Graham produced for almost half a century and for which the Venice-based sculptor became internationally known. Graham's best known work, however, is his Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C.
