The fountain has a six-foot cast concrete figure of a Tongva tribe member kneeling in prayer. The figure is mounted on a 20-foot square concrete shaft which rises from a cylindrical splash basin. The basin has a frieze of relief carvings depicting various scenes from California history. Additionally, there are terracotta mosaic pavement tiles, benches, landscaping, and an evening colored lighting program.
Fun Fact: The lights and water are timed to change approximately every 8 minutes.
