Charles Arnoldi (1946- )
Cast Bronze
City of Beverly Hills
Associated with the Venice circle of Los Angeles experimentalists, Charles Arnoldi is unusual among them for his multiple practices as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, and assemblagist. This mediumistic variety is mirrored by Arnoldi's ever-evolving style. But whether composing with branches or casting orotund forms in bronze (as here), painting blocky interlocking shapes or looping vast linear skeins across a canvas, there is a consistent sense of dynamic, vibrant assembly, of things accumulated and built with careful urgency.
