Eternal Flame
Eternal Flame, 1986-1987
John Jagger (1931-2013)
Bronze
Fine Art Ordinance Obligation
John Jagger, born in Chicago and trained in design, achieved the position of Senior Industrial Designer at IBM before turning to sculpture full time and relocating to California's Central Coast. He produced mostly wildlife subjects, so Eternal Flame is somewhat unusual. It may not even have been intended as an abstraction of fire, but the artwork received its name when the commissioner of the piece died before its completion.
