Peter Shelton (1951- )
Black Granite
Fine Art Ordinance Obligation of 9320 Wilshire Boulevard
Shelton's large-scale sculptures and installations invite participation: crawling through, under, behind, and over. They fill architectural space with mass and weight, sometimes swinging or wobbling, which makes us aware of the instability of our physical surroundings. This black granite open sleeve shirt challenges us to look at what should be light and delicate but is heavy and dense.
Fun Fact: Shelton earned his Master's of Fine Arts (MFA) from UCLA and currently lives in Venice, CA.
