The primary mission of the Code Enforcement Program of the Community Development Program is the enforcement and/or coordination of the enforcement of a variety of state, county, city codes, ordinances, and resolutions in the most efficient or equitable manner possible. Voluntary compliance is always our primary goal.

Community Preservation responds to and investigates complaints involving alleged violations of state and city laws pertaining to:

• Technical codes
• Zoning/land use regulations and prescribed mitigation measures
• Property maintenance standards including graffiti
• State housing standards
• State and local smoking regulations
• Garage sale regulations
• Noise regulations pertaining to mechanical equipment and animals 
• Gasoline leaf blowers
• Sign regulations
• Rent control regulations
• Animal control regulations
• Business Taxes
• Home Occupation 
• Yard signs including political/election signs
