Welcome to the Division of Building & Safety!  Within the City’s Community Development Department, the Building and Safety division protects the public by enforcing building codes and regulations. Employees work to ensure that all new construction meets required safety standards and that existing structures are safely maintained.  The division is also responsible for safety issues during the demolition or alteration of buildings, including matters related to electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems, energy conservation and access for the disabled.
