The approval of the Green Building Ordinance by The Beverly Hills City Council establishes new requirements affecting the construction of commercial, mixed-use, and residential developments.
The Green Building Program for commercial and multi-family developments is modeled after the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, a green building certification program and rating system. The Green Building Ordinance is designed to improve and distinguish commercial, multi-family, and mixed-use projects. The ordinance is aimed to enhance public health and welfare and to assure that further city developments create a more sustainable and environment friendly community.
The Green Building Program for single family residential development is modeled after Build It Green design program. This is a voluntary program for new developments.
