IMPORTANT NOTICE: Online Inspection Request Services Made Easier
Effective August 3, 2011, online inspection request services have become easier for building permit customers. Inspection requests only require online customers to enter their permit number and describe the inspection request. The process has been made simple by eliminating the three digit inspection type request codes. Simply describe your inspection request to schedule your inspection request. Your inspection request will provide a 30 minute appointment schedule with your Building Inspector, that will allow for multiple inspections within the appointment time.
How can I schedule an inspection?
- You can make an appointment online through this automated online inspection scheduling system.
- Over the telephone. For over the telephone scheduling, call the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system at (310) 285-BLDG or (310) 285-2534.
With the online inspection scheduling system, you can:
- Schedule an inspection request
- Cancel an inspection
- Review project-specific information
- Receive automated e-mail notifications of changes including notification of an estimated 2 hour time of arrival window.
- Receive automatic e-mail notifications of inspection results.
- Write a short message about specific project information directly to the assigned Building Inspector.
When should I schedule an appointment?
Inspections may be scheduled beginning at 9:00am, for the following business day. The inspection system remains open until 3:00pm, or until the maximum number of inspections has been met for that day -- whichever comes first.
Can I schedule an after-hours inspection?
If you would like to schedule an after-hours inspection, please attain preliminary approval from your building inspector and submit a completed special inspection form along with the payment.
NOTE: This form must be processed and paid at the Building and Safety offices during normal business hours before an inspection can be scheduled or performed.
What time are inspections performed?
Hours of inspection are 8am to 4pm, Monday through Thursday and 8am to 3pm on Fridays.
