Community Emergency Response Team Training instructs individuals to prepare to respond to anticipated description and potential hazards following a disaster. All CPR classes teach basic CPR techniques and the Heimlich maneuver for adults, children, and infants. The proper way to phone 911 for help, how to recognize the signs of a heart attack and stroke are discussed and there is a video demonstration of how to use an Automated External Defibrillator. The First Aid classes instruct participants in how to handle certain injury and medical emergencies. In addition, it teaches how to:

  • Recognize the potential hazards associated with a particular type of emergency and take the appropriate action.
  • Identify, organize and utilize available resources and people.
  • Treat for life-threatening conditions through Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment (S.T.A.R.T.).

We have added a new module on Terrorism.  Classes include lecture, videos, slides and interactive participation and skills assessment. Emergency responders, emergency management personnel, and emergency trained volunteers provide training.
