Applying for a Library Card
Library cards are free to the residents of the City of Beverly Hills and residents of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. You will need to provide both photo identification and a proof of current address.
1. Photo Identification: We will accept a valid driver's license or a valid California ID, or a Passport, or a government issued photo ID as photo identification. In addition you need to provide a proof of address.
2. Current Address: We will accept a current utility bill or a credit card statement, or a rental or property tax receipt, or current school documents that show your home address, or a car registration.
To receive a Library Card, fill out an application in person at the Beverly Hills Public Library.

A patron may have total of 64 items checked out on their patron record at one time. Fines are charged only if materials are returned late. Failure to pay accured fines may result in the borrower's account being turned over to our collection agency Gess and Associates.

*If an item is reserved by another patron the check out period is limited to two weeks.
Lost or Damaged Materials
Lost or damaged items charges are based on the replacement cost of the item and in addition a non-refundable $17.50 processing fee.

Returning Library Materials
Items checked out from the Beverly Hills Public Library must be returned to the Beverly Hills Public Library. Materials may be returned to the book slot inside the Library or to the Circulation Desk. Outside Book Drops are located in the handicapped parking area in the lot off Rexford Drive and on Civic Center Drive.
Renewing Library Materials
Books and audio books may be renewed a maximum of two times. DVDs, BluRays, Music CDs, Children's Kits (Media), and interlibrary loan materials may not be renewed. Items for which there are pending holds/reservations may not be renewed. Items are not eligible for renewal until 7 days before their due date.
You may renew items 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the Web by accessing Your Library Record. Click here for instructions on how to renew items online.
Renewals may also be done in person at the Circulation Desk.
The Library also offers Telephone Circulation Service. If you have a touch tone phone, you can renew your items by telephone 24 hours a day, by calling (310) 288-2223.
Holds / Reserves
You can place a HOLD on an item for 75¢ from any Library computer, or over the Web by clicking on Search the Catalog on the Library's Web Page. After searching for the title you want to reserve, select the request button at the top of the screen. Click here for further instructions on how to place a reserve online. Holds/reserve may also be placed at the Circulation Desk. Fees are non-refundable. You will receive an automated telephone notification when your items is available.
