Pursuant to Government Code Section 54953(e)(3), members of the Beverly Hills Rent Stabilization Commission and staff may participate in this meeting via a teleconference. In the interest of maintaining appropriate social distancing, members of the public can participate by listening to the meeting at (888) 468-1195 (participant code 105093).

It is recommended that written public comments be submitted to the Rent Stabilization Commission Recording Secretary by 4:00 PM on the meeting date.  Public comments will also be taken during the meeting when the topic is being reviewed by the Rent Stabilization Commission.  Written comments should identify the Agenda Item number or topic in the subject line of the email. 

In order to be read at the meeting, written comments will be allowed with a maximum of 350 words, which corresponds to approximately three (3) minutes of speaking time.  If a comment is received after the agenda item is heard, it will not be a part of the record.

RESOLUTION OF THE RENT STABILIZATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS CONTINUING TO AUTHORIZE PUBLIC MEETINGS TO BE HELD VIA TELECONFERENCING PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54953(e) AND MAKING FINDINGS AND DETERMINATIONS REGARDING THE SAME - Recent legislation was adopted allowing the Rent Stabilization Commission to continue virtual meetings during the COVID-19 declared emergency subject to certain conditions, and the proposed resolution implements the necessary requirements.

DISCUSSION AND  RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BEVERLY HILLS CITY COUNCIL REGARDING POSSIBLE AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 5 AND CHAPTER 6 OF TITLE 4 OF THE CITY’S MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING BEVERLY HILLS HABITABILITY STANDARDS; PROACTIVE INSPECTIONS; AN ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD TO ADDRESS HABITABILITY VIOLATIONS AND ASSOCIATED RENT REDUCTIONS; AND TO RESTRICT RENT INCREASES - Staff seeks recommendations regarding potential amendments to Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 of Title 4 of the City’s Municipal Code in connection with Beverly Hills habitability standards, proactive inspections, an administrative board to address habitability violations and associated rent increases.  Continued from the February 2, 2022 Rent Stabilization Commission regular meeting.
