Dec. 13 at 3:30 pm In his new book, The Clock and the Camshaft, Forbes writer John W. Farrell delves into the extraordinary ingenuity necessary to create basic mechanical tools that made the subsequent scientific revolution possible. This history of medieval inventions vividly portrays a thriving era of human ingenuity. From the mechanical clock to the first eyeglasses, both of which revolutionized society, many of the commonplace devices we now take for granted had their origin in the Middle Ages. |
Rodeo Drive Holiday Celebration |

Dec. 6 at 4:00 pm The Holidays kicked off in November with a captivating Lighting Celebration along Rodeo Drive including Broadway Singers, contemporary and hip-hop dance numbers and festive holiday pop. The evening concluded with Beverly Hills Mayor Bob Wunderlich and fellow City Council members offically illuminating the length of Rodeo Drive and its iconic palm trees with an abundance of sparkle before a dramatic and glittering grand finale of fireworks. |

Dec. 15 at 6 pm Join City Staff for an informative presentation and virtual exercise as part of its Wildfire Evacuation Planning. During this virtual meeting, the City’s Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works and City Manager’s Office will present various ways which community members can prepare as well as share how each department has worked to prepare for and mitigate against the threat of wildfires and other potential disasters. Viewers will have the opportunity to learn about how to build out their emergency plans and emergency supplies. |

Dec. 6 at 3:30 pm Have your heard of remote sensing? It is the gathering of data remotely. This data is gathered from satellites, airplanes, and even drones flying through hurricanes. It is used for a lot of different things and you probably use it every day without even knowing about it. STEM in 30 is an Emmy-nominated program for middle school students produced by the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. |

In this episode Andrew Falzon visits a vertical farm in Tribeca; we go on a deep dive in search of Black Coral in the Gulf of Mexico; Donna Hanover meets students who went on an expedition in the Ecuadorian jungle; we get the facts on the Flu; Barry Mitchell finds out he does not have Synesthesia; and Adam Miller heads to the Hayden Planetarium to check out their new show Worlds Beyond Earth.

Jill Schary Robinson is author of several renowned memoirs, including With a Cast of Thousands, Bed/Time/Story, and Past Forgetting. She is the daughter of Dore Schary, the Oscar and Tony Award winning writer, producer, and head of MGM. As a copywriter for the advertising agency FCB, Robinson trained with Helen Gurley Brown. Robinson also wrote on women’s issues for Cosmopolitan and covered political trials for the Soho Weekly News. Her first memoir, With a Cast of Thousands is about her experiences growing up among celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Spencer Tracy, Elizabeth Taylor and Adlai Stevenson.
