Be Counted, Beverly Hills: Why the Census is Important

The City of Beverly Hills plays an active role in mobilizing community members to take part in the Census. Understanding the importance of the Census and how the information is used is a top priority to ensure the City receives a fair share of federal funding and investments. Data collected from the Census count also determines apportionment among the states for the U.S. House of Representatives.

  • How do I participate?
  • What happens if I lost my Census ID?
  • Can the U.S. Census mail me another paper questionnaire?
  • Are my answers Confidential?

By April 1, 2020, each home will receive an invitation to respond to a short questionnaire-online, by phone, or by mail. The Census survey will ask your name, sex, age, date of birth, race/ethnicity, as well as those details for everyone in your household. For those who do not fill out the Census application either by mail, phone or online, a Census representative will visit door-to-door between May and the end date of October 15, 2020.

To participate in the online 2020 Census questionnaire, please visit: https://my2020census.gov/.

If you misplaced or lost your Census ID that was first sent to you, you can still fill out the Census online by following these instructions HERE.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Census is unable to mail another paper form if you misplaced the first one that was sent to you. To complete the Census online, visit HERE or call 844-330-2020.

The data collected from the Census is used to make sure everyone is equally represented in our political system and that government resources are allocated fairly. The Census data determines how many congressional seats a state receives, how much federal funding will be allocated for public services and infrastructure needs while providing a picture of the changing demographics of the country.
The Census survey will ask your name, sex, age, date of birth, race/ethnicity, as well as those details for everyone in your household.
Starting in March 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau will mail letters to every household in the United States inviting them to respond to the Census survey. Every household should receive a letter requesting that they complete a census form online, by mail or by phone.
