City of Beverly Hills Will Not Implement Potential
New LA County Health Order Using City Enforcement

Beverly Hills, CA – A potential new health order by LA County that could require indoor masking will not be enforced by City of Beverly Hills staff, the Beverly Hills City Council unanimously directed on Monday night.  The item was brought forward for discussion by Mayor Lili Bosse.

The City of Beverly Hills falls under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH).  The City of Beverly Hills would be included in any new health order issued, but may or may not choose to utilize staff resources to enforce it.

“I feel it is our job to lead and I support the power of choice,” said Mayor Lili Bosse.  “Our job is to be proactive and public about what we believe.  This is a united City Council and community that cares about health.  We are not where we were in 2020, and now we need to move forward as a community and be part of the solution.”

Last week the LACDPH announced that, for the second week in a row, the number of COVID cases and the number of COVID related hospitalizations have pushed the county into the “high” level.

Unless the hospitalization rate decreases by this Thursday, a new health order could go into effect this Friday, July 29 which could require masks to be worn indoors.  The LACDPH would responsible for enforcement of any new order.
