City Statement on Petition Filing by UNITE HERE Local 11

Beverly Hills, CA (July 26, 2023) – On Tuesday July 25, UNITE HERE Local 11 presented the City of Beverly Hills with a Notice of Intent to circulate a proposed ballot measure requiring a wage increase for hotel workers in the City.

The City Attorney has 15 days from receipt of the Notice to provide an impartial title and summary which will be circulated with the petition.

If the organizers receive the minimum number of signatures for the petition (10% of registered voters in the City), the City Council would then be presented with the option of either adopting the ordinance or placing it on the ballot for a vote by the residents of Beverly Hills.

Per California Elections Code, the petition gatherers have up to 180 days to submit the signatures from the date of receiving the Title and Summary from the City Attorney.
