Canapé: French Arts & Culture

April 7 at 10:30 pm
Since 1996, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and CUNY TV have produced together one of the few French programs to appear on American television: Canapé.  Stylish and modern, Canapé is the only program entirely devoted to French cultural events in New York and the United States. This half-hour show includes film releases, book translations, exhibitions, festivals, ballets, concerts and theater productions.  This episode highlights Historian Lucia Katz's first book about 1870s France and the new class of poor: the "homeless," the feature film Mediterranea about two African friends who set out on a journey for better life in Europe, and a musical collaboration with Montreal based artist Stefan Christoff and Cairo based artist Sam Shalabi.
