Science & U! explores the world of science and examines its importance in our everyday life. This program focuses on pain in our bodies and options for pain management. First, Max Gomez explains how our brain processes pain and what makes the experience different for every individual. Andrew Falzon gives an overview of pain management including therapy, and also delves into a growing opioid crisis. Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson visits the Manhattan Headache Center to see what sort of treatments can help with migraines. Donna Hanover finds ways to fight pain without using medication and Carol Anne Riddell explores phantom pain and talks with an amputee who still manages to have feeling in a limb she no longer has.
