Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and Stalls

Electric cars are becoming increasingly common in our communities. If you wish to install an electric vehicle charging station, here is what you need to know.

Contact the City Before Installing Charging Stations or Stalls

Prior to any installation or construction, the Community Development Department Development Services division should be consulted to determine specific requirements. If a contractor is hired to perform the work, it is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that the appropriate electrical permits have been obtained.

Electrical work requires an Electrical Contractor with a C-10 License

Verify a contractor license with the California Contractor State License Board.

Requirements for New Buildings

The following city building inspections must be completed prior to activation of the new charging circuit for the plug-in vehicle.
