Mahdi Aluzri, Assistant City Manager, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Beverly Hills, overseeing eight departments. Mr. Aluzri returned to Beverly Hills in 2009, after serving two years as Deputy City Manager for the city of Rancho Cucamonga.
In Rancho Cucamonga, Mr. Aluzri was in charge of Community Development functions which include public works, engineering, utilities, planning, building and safety and code enforcement in four departments with a total staff of close to 250 and a budget of over $25 million. Mr. Aluzri was also the City’s representative to regional organizations including San Bernardino Association of Government and the Southern California Association of Governments. In addition, he served as staff person in charge of the City’s ever popular Pacific Electric Multi-use Trail and the extension of the Metro Gold line light rail link to Ontario Airport.
With close to 25 years of public service, Mr. Aluzri, previously spent 17 years working for the City of Beverly Hills with the last nine in senior capacity including being the Director of the Community Development Department.
Mr. Aluzri earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Southern California. He is member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and has been certified by the International Code Council as a building official and a plan examiner. Mr. Aluzri is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.
