City Government Commissions Human Relations Commission
Welcome to the Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission promotes positive human relations in all aspects of community life. We invite every member of this community to support an environment where civility, respect and responsible actions prevail.

The primary objective of the Beverly Hills Human Relations Commission is to actively establish our city as a model of a just and equitable society. The Commission recognizes the benefits inherent in a diverse community, fosters understanding and acceptance of all its citizens, and promotes civil discourse and conduct.

Our Embrace Civility initiatives include:

Civil City Program: Taking Civility from City Hall to City Streets

Bullying Prevention Public Service Announcements: Video contest with Beverly Hills Students

Embrace Civility Awards: Honoring individuals in our community who model civility

Election Civility Statement: A statement of positive civic behavior

The Human Relations Commission (HRC) consists of five members of the Beverly Hills community appointed by the City Council to advise, recommend, assist and encourage activities and programs to be undertaken to promote positive human relations in all aspects of community life. Click here to meet our current commissioners.

Community Support: The HRC is authorized to receive citizen complaints concerning interactions of city employees with the public. Regarding interactions with the Beverly Hills Police Department, a formal personnel complaint procedure exists for individuals who do not wish to file a complaint directly with BHPD. Please contact Human Services Adminstrator Jim Latta at 310-285-1006 to discuss the process to reserve a spot on the commission agenda.
