The City of Beverly Hills, High School Internship Program (HSIP) is a non-paid competitive selection process that will provide high school students through a unique six week program to gain firsthand knowledge and experience working in the public sector. Internship placement opportunities include working in one or two of the following City Departments:
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
The selected eighteen High School students will participate in an orientation. They will each be assigned a City Department and Supervisor. The Supervisor will give the interns a midterm and final evaluation based on their performance during program. The Department Supervisor will act as the mentor and coach of the intern during the six week period. The interns will be provided a road map which will include the job assignments and scheduled activities. Some activities may include: day to day departmental work assignments, special project assignments, public speaking opportunities, attendance at City Council and Commission meeting(s) and career development training session opportunities. The internship program is designed to provide a good understanding of Public Administration while at the same time provide a meaningful educational experience. Students who successfully complete the six week program will be provided a certificate of completion.
