|1. Request Library materials online, by phone or email.
Once you receive an email notification that a hold is ready for pickup, schedule your holds pickup time by calling:
|2. Proceed to the pickup station at your appointment time.
|3. Get in the social distancing line to receive your holds.
Be sure to wear a face covering in accordance with City of Beverly Hills Emergency Order.
Our staff will bring your holds to the pickup station.
|4. Be sure to confirm that your holds bag contains the correct items.
Check the receipt on your bag to ensure you have the correct items.

Where do I park?
Parking will be available in front of the library on Rexford or in the parking structure.
How do I schedule a time to pick up items?
When you receive notice that your hold is ready for Sidewalk Pickup, call 310-288-2222 to schedule a Sidewalk Pickup time. Staff are available between 10:30 to 5:30 pm. Please do not schedule a Sidewalk Pickup time prior to receiving a notice that your hold is ready.
When are my items due?
The lending period for all items checked out via Sidewalk Pickup will be 8 weeks with no renewals.
How do I return library materials?
You may return your library materials using the exterior book drops or the in the wall book return. To protect you and our staff, we will not accept returned materials at Sidewalk Pickup table.
What are the hours of Sidewalk Pickup?
Sunday through Tuesday 9:30 to 12:30 pm
What about evening and weekend hours?
This is the first step of a phased reopening; additional hours may be added later. Please check back on this page for updates.
I placed a hold before you closed. Is it still valid?
Yes! Customers with existing holds will be notified of availability.
How do I place new holds?
New holds may be placed starting June 22, 2020. You can place holds online or by calling 310-288-2244 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Due to high demand, please limit hold requests to a maximum of 10 items.
What if I don’t know my PIN?
Call the library at 310-288-2222. We will ask for your library card number and some other questions to confirm your identity and then reset your PIN to whatever 4-digit number you choose.
I returned items to the library yesterday and they are still on my account.
We are following Department of Public Health guidelines and are setting materials aside to quarantine for three (3) full days. After the quarantine is over, items will be checked in and removed from your account.
I don’t have a library card. How can I still access library services?
Currently, you need to have a library card to borrow materials. You can get an e-card to checkout eBooks and use our virtual resources. Call 310-288-2222.
How long will you keep my hold?
We will hold your item for 14 days.
Will I lose my hold items if I do not pick them up during the closure?
All hold items, including holds placed prior to closure will expire 14 days after you receive a notice that your item is ready for Sidewalk Pickup.
What happens if I was scheduled for Sidewalk Pickup, but missed my window?
If you missed your scheduled Sidewalk Pickup time, please call 310-288-2222 to reschedule a new Sidewalk Pickup time. Holds expire after 14 days and are put back into circulation, if your hold has expired, you can place the hold again online, or call us at 310-288-2244.
What safety measures are being taken for the public and staff?
The safety of our customers and our staff are our top priority. We have established safety protocols in accordance with the “Safer at Home” Health Order. While offering contactless Sidewalk Pickup, library staff are taking a variety of precautions, including limiting the number of staff working together, taking temperatures and symptom checks, practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings and quarantining returned materials.
Will I be fined if I am unable to return library materials during the closure?
There will be no fines or fees on any items checked out while the library is closed to the public.
How long will you offer Sidewalk Pickup?
We are unsure at this time how long Sidewalk Pickup will be offered.

Do I need a face covering to use Sidewalk Pickup?
Yes! Face coverings are required on library grounds.
Can I donate books to the Library?
Thank you for thinking of the Beverly Hills Public Library. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept book donations at this time. Please do not leave donations on the Sidewalk Pickup table and do not place donations in or around the book drop. We will announce when we are able to accept donations again.
Is the Library building open?
The physical building remains closed to the public at this time to protect our community members from COVID-19. The Beverly Hills Public Library’s virtual services are available 24/7 for access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, research, streaming video, and more.
