Joseph Kosuth is one of the pioneers of the conceptual art movement that evolved in the sixties. The movement is one in which the idea takes precedence over the form. Kosuth initiated language-based artwork which have consistently explored the production, definition, and meanings of art. This piece reads: "visual space has essentially no owner".
Fun Fact: Kosuth's nearly thirty year inquiry into the relation of language to art has been manifested in installations, museum exhibitions, public commissions, and publications throughout Europe, The Americas and the Far East.
