Global Languages' Collection and Poetry
Beverly Hills Library will host a resource lounge dedicated to its global languages' collection. Attendees can also share their love of the written word by contributing their own on the community poetry wall. |
Dance and Music Showcase
Beverly Hills Unified School District Visit the Civic Center and BHUSD-dedicated stages to hear tunes from Nathan, Ruler of Program's Nathan Horowitz and drummer Lucien Jenkins; Shayda Dadvand; Olivia Green; Serotonin featuring Kasper Cox and Morgen Stern, and Looster (aka Louis McKinlay). Produced by BHUSD Audio Production teacher Alex Breitman. BHHS Dance Company, under direction of Artistic Director Dana Findley, will offer up inspired dances choreographed by Beverly Hills' own Janet Roston, among others. BHHS Dance Company members: Lian Ben David, Brooke Bronson, Jenny Cohen, Ori Cohen Raab, Villa Cross, Bradi Harrison, Sapir Hoffman, Ariella Landau, Edden Mizrahi, Elliana Mizrahi, Ellah Nahum, Deborah Nosrati, Bradyn Prisand, Haley Scholer, Hana Soloway, Abby Wolf.

Food Competition, Spice-Making Workshop & Nowruz Table
The 95th annual Academy Awards is the star of this BHUSD Culinary Program food competition. Under the direction of Chef Rick Leece, students will shop the market, then bring their farm-fresh produce back to the Food Stage to prep an Oscars-themed party platter worthy of a gold statuette. The winners will be determined by a panel of judges. What Spice Are You? is an exploration of global cultures thru spice. An interactive multi-sensory display that prompts attendees to discover what spice they are- tapping into their connection to their own cultures/heritages and personal tastes, join your host Iranian-American artist and designer Parisa Parnian. In celebration of the Persian New Year, a Nowruz Table Display will recognize the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the Iranian Solar Hijri calendar. Puppetry, Puppet-Making and Mask-Making Workshops
Bob Baker Marionette Theater has been pulling the strings of family fun since 1963. The Theater's vegetable puppets make their Beverly Hills debut around the market. Encounter these darling vegetal marionettes or stop by the organization's booth to try your hand at puppeteering! LA Commons engages communities in the creation of public art that tells their unique stories and serves as the basis for dialogue, interaction, and a shared understanding of Los Angeles. During Festival Beverly Hills, the organization's large-scale, nature-themed puppets will pop-up through the market. Also, please visit their booth to participate in a special coloring activity. |
Mariachi and Folklorico Dance & Contemporary Indian Dance
Cortines High School's award-winning mariachi and folklorico dancers will pop-up around the Festival. Celebrate this regional Mexican music that has found a home in Southern California! Achinta S. McDaniel, a pioneer of contemporary Indian dance in the United States, is the founder and artistic director of the critically acclaimed Blue13 Dance Company. A prolific choreographer, performer and instructor, McDaniel's style draws from diverse techniques, including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, bhangra, and Kathak as well as Bollywood, which she will bring to a special pop-up performance. Everyone's invited to join in! |
DJ Global Rhythm Session
dublab cultivates and supports local cultural ecosystems worldwide. Through community-generated radio, dublab promotes curiosity, experimentation, inclusivity, and connection. Join DJ T-Kay for a global rhythm session. As an archivist/librarian, T-Kay brings an eye and ear for the historic, unique, and transnational to her musical curation. Her world is a celebration of sounds, and struggles of everyday life across linguistic and geographic boundaries gathered through serendipitous findings from around the world. T-Kay joined the dublab family as an intern in 2006 and hosted her first show "The Afternoon Love-In" in early 2007. |
Arts & Crafts Workshops
Community Services' Recreation and Parks Division celebrates Women's History Month and the achievements of Mae Jemison, the first Black woman in space, with a special space-themed craft! Self Help Graphics & Art fosters the creation and advancement of new art works by Chicana/o and Latinx artists through experimental and innovative printmaking techniques and other visual art forms. Founded in 1973, the organization has been at the intersection of arts and social justice, providing a home that fosters the creativity and development of local artists. They will host a stencil making workshop with screen printing on posters. |
Marimba Musical Magic
Southern California Marimba is dedicated to marimba playing and elevating an understanding an appreciation for the instrument. Witness the magic of this wooden xylophone-like instrument with roots in sub-Saharan Africa during two pop-up performances.
New Year's Lion Dance
Orange County-based Qing Wei Lion & Dragon Dance Cultural Troupe is a pioneer in exhibition-style performances in Southern California. Qing Wei is dedicated to educating the Western world on the importance of this traditional, yet fun and entertaining aspect of Asian culture. At this year's Festival Beverly Hills, come experience a classic New Year's lion dance that symbolizes good luck. |
Passport Stamp Collection and Recipe Book Giveaway
Festival Passport Kiddies are invited to stop by the Festival Beverly Hills booth to nab a passport to the Festival Beverly Hills scavenger hunt. Earn stamps as you search the farm stands for seasonal produce and participate in Festival activities. Participants will go home with a specially-designed recipe book that is sure to inspire global culinary excursions right here at home!
